The FY 201 – 2012 Grant Application has been released.   When initially available, applicants may access the application on both the State Department’s home page at www.alsde.edu under Hot Topics, and for your convenience we have included it here:

FY 2011 – 2012 Grant Application Technical Assistance

The SDE will be offering technical assistance by conducting a WebEx on May 5, 2011, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and hosting a workshop on May 6, 2011, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. to assist potential applicants with their understanding of the program and the application process.  There is no registration cost for the WebEx or workshop.  The link with instructions on how to participate will be posted on the SDE Web site at www.alsde.edu under the “Hot Topics” link.  The May 6th workshop will be held at the SDE in the Gordon Persons Building Auditorium

Baldwin County Educator named Afterschool Ambassardor

Every afternoon across the nation, over 15 million children are alone and unsupervised after school.  The National Afterschool Alliance has conducted numerous research projects, surveys, and studies.  Please take a few minutes to review their findings - National Afterschool Alliance Studies.

As part of their research, the NAA developed documentation of the results per state.  Below are Alabama’s reports for 2009 and 2011.  As you can see, Alabama has made some progress, but still has far to go.
